Ordering Jackets Through Mulebuy: A Beginner's Walkthrough

New to buying jackets this way? Jackets are one of the trickier categories to get right, so it pays to slow down before you paste that link.

The single biggest mistake first-timers make is guessing their size. Jacket cuts vary wildly between sellers, and a "Large" from one workshop can fit like a Medium from another. Ignore S/M/L labels and read the measurement chart in centimeters instead. Lay a jacket you already own flat and measure it:

• Chest — measure pit-to-pit and double it, then compare to the listing.
• Shoulder — seam to seam across the back; this is the hardest number to fix if it's wrong.
• Sleeve length — down the outer arm; puffers and technical shells often run short.
• Body length — matters a lot for cropped or oversized styles.

Fabric and construction are worth a second look. Down and puffer jackets should list a real fill (down vs. synthetic) — if the listing is vague, expect polyester wadding. For denim, canvas, and wool pieces, heavier fabric usually photographs and wears better than thin material. Zippers are a common weak point, so when your parcel reaches the Mulebuy warehouse, use the QC photos to check that zips run smoothly, hardware branding is clean, and stitching is even around the collar and cuffs.

A few beginner-friendly habits that save reorders:

• Add a note when you place the order asking QC to photograph any logo patches, embroidery, or printed tags close-up.
• Watch out for shrinkage on cotton and fleece-lined shells — size with a wash in mind.
• If a listing has multiple color options, confirm the exact colorway you want in the order notes, since photos can be shot under warm lighting.

When the QC photos land in your Mulebuy account, compare them against the seller's pictures before approving shipment. If a seam, color, or measurement looks off, you can request more photos or a return while the item is still in the warehouse — much easier than sorting it out after it ships. Take the extra day; jackets are an investment piece and worth getting right the first time.
